Sea of Cortez Celestial Navigation and Offshore Passagemaking Course (ASA 107/108)

This course combines two very different experiences into a meaningful whole. ASA 107 covers celestial navigation, theory and practice. The skills the sailor builds during this course are put into practical use as one part of the much more broad ASA 108: Offshore Passagemaking.

Students undertaking this course will become familiar and proficient with all steps of planning for an offshore passage that should be undertaken by any prudent sailor. This includes substantial pre-departure homework.

The on-water component of your ASA 107/108 offshore passagemaking course will enable you to acquire and practice the skills needed by an offshore sailor, including the addition of celestial navigation, and the experience gained on the water will help provide the confidence you need to skipper your next offshore passage on your own vessel or an extended charter.

Course Components:

ASA 107, Celestial Navigation
