ASA Sailing Certification: (ASA 101/103/104/105/106/114)

We’ve teamed up with American Sailing Association (ASA) to become the leader in sailing instruction geared towards Multihulls. We get you on a catamaran faster than anybody in the San Diego area. West Coast Sailing School has the boats and instructors to get you from a beginning sailor through to capably skippering a large catamaran on your own. Our system is set up to maximize your time sailing, get sailors aboard catamarans as quickly as possible, and avoid additional costs associated with membership fees. Basic Keel Boat (ASA 101) – aboard a monohull

This complete 2 day course  covers everything you need to know to get started in this exciting world of sailing. You will be able to sail a boat of about 30 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. Upcoming Classes >>

Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103) – aboard a monohull & CATAMARAN

Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat

At the completion of this 2 day course you will be able to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 20 to 30 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions. Upcoming Classes >>

Bareboat Chartering (ASA 104) – aboard a CATAMARAN

Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat and Basic Coastal Cruising (Can be combined with ASA 114)

For individuals with cruising experience. You will be able to skipper a 30 to 50 foot boat sailing by day in coastal waters. This standard includes knowledge of boat systems and maintenance procedures, and is recognized by most charter companies worldwide. Upcoming Classes >>

Cruising Catamaran (ASA 114) – aboard a CATAMARAN

Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising.
Bareboat Charter (ASA 104) can be done concurrently.

An advanced cruising standard for individuals with cruising experience. You will act as skipper of a 30-50 foot multihull sailboat by day in coastal waters. The standard includes those skills unique to a 30-50 foot multihull. Upcoming Classes >>

Advanced Sailing Course

INCLUDES: ASA 104 / 114

On this 3 day course (ASA 104 & ASA 114) you will board one of our cruising catamarans on a Friday evening. This is an advanced cruising standard (ASA 104) for individuals with cruising experience. You will be able to skipper 30 – 50 foot boats sailing by day in coastal waters. This ASA sailing certification includes knowledge of boat systems and maintenance procedures. ASA 114 is an advanced cruising standard for individuals with cruising experience. You will act as skipper of a 30-50 foot catamaran by day in coastal waters. The standard includes those skills unique to a 30-50 foot sailing auxiliary catamaran.

The Advanced Sailing Course also includes a free docking clinic, and the option to stay aboard the catamaran for the Friday night prior to class. Books and materials are not included. Upcoming Classes >>
